How does it work?
The air source heat pumps extract heat from the air absorbing this into a refrigerant fluid. This fluid is processed through a compressor which can increase the temperature of the fluid. These pumps can be effective all year round up to lows of -20c.
Heating using air outside your home
Heat is extracted from the outside air and pulled through an evaporator and refrigerant liquid is passed through the system.

In a well-insulated property, every kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity used to power the heat pump can provide around three kWh of ‘free’ thermal energy. This means heat pumps can be up to 4x more efficient than boilers.
